Every LAUSD student is automatically issued a Student Success Card from the Los Angeles Public Library within two weeks of enrollment. Teachers may access a student's SSC account number and PIN through Schoology (MyMail PIN). Students may access their own SSC account number and PIN through Schoology through their profile.Once you have your SSC, you can read LAPL e-media using the Overdrive button on your school-issued laptop. See the instructions below for activating the Overdrive button on your laptop.

Project Gutenberg is your go-to place for classic, public domain literature. From their site description:

Below are links for legal free e-books--books that are in the public domain or books that authors have given permission to be downloaded for free. Beware of sites that offer copyrighted material for download without author permission. It is not legal to download copyrighted material without paying for it unless you are borrowing it from a library or other legitimate organization.
One way to check if a book is in the "public domain" or legally available for free is to go to a commercial book-selling site, such as Amazon or Barnes and Noble, and see if the book is free there. If it is not, then you should not be downloading it for free.
