Guitars 4 Kids & James Monroe HS Guitars 4 Kids - James Monroe HS Show Transcript my daughter Nora loved a guitar she loved singing she loved playing she loved teaching she was loved holding it Nora was destined to continue her Legacy for love of music but will never know my daughter was killed on November 29th 2018 in a car crash with the Nora Rose Hines foundation and a program we've named guitar for kids were able to give guitars to kids who want them who love music and a guitar of their own and Norah's foundation will continue to fund this program each year the guitars for kids Foundation has chosen to gift us 15 guitars to my students in my Advanced guitar ensemble it it was a big surprise hearing that I can't get a guitar for free it's like kind of made me want to cry a little bit I don't know it's kind of like it's godsend it gives me a lot of freedom to express myself through music and I could use that to share with others to play with more people or I could teach people with that guitar as well my Grandpa would just pull out the guitar and he would sing to us and the way he does it is like with love if I were to have my own guitar I would be able to like learn in person with him at James neuro high school we pride ourselves on our that music is for everyone for the Nora Rose Hines Foundation to choose us was so meaningful because a lot of our students don't have guitars they don't have instruments that they can take home this was a great great opportunity for us to bridge that gap having this guitar personally it means a lot I learned my first solo song here and I got to perform it was nerve-wracking I came off stage and the whole stuff we're like waiting for me and they were cheering me on and it was really nice I didn't know I was going to cry I was really proud of myself I got into the CES some music department if I didn't have the guitar I don't think I'd be where I am right now nothing's impossible I've always loved music and I know that that love is going to continue it's something that I want to pursue going into college I firmly believe that music is changing the lives of these kids now the tools in their hands and it's theirs to call their own
